Four clear glass trophies on a brown table - a large octagonal one for Hana's Supporting Small Business Firm of the Year award, and smaller rectangular awards for other firms.

The Charleston Post of the Society of American Military Engineers honored Hana’s Charleston office with the Supporting Small Business Firm of the Year award.

The award goes to companies that meet the following criteria:

  • Support the Charleston Post by allowing one or more employees to take on leadership positions at the post level, including board of directors and committees.
  • Support K-12, college outreach and community service activities.
  • Participate in Small Business programs sponsored by the society or public agencies.
  • Exhibit and sponsor at SAME local and/or regional conferences.
  • Support young member participation in society activities and mentoring programs.

Hana employees Christina Jettie and Kalin Morrison are active Charleston Post board members and committee chairs. Christina is the mentor for the student post of SAME at The Citadel and is on the advisory board for the college’s civil engineering department.

The Charleston-level award qualifies Hana for the national Robert B. Flowers Small Business Award, given by the national SAME organization. That award will be presented during the 2021 Virtual Joint Engineer Training Conference & Expo, set for May 17-21.
