Supplemental Remedial Investigation at Camp Sibert

Hana is completing a supplemental groundwater Remedial Investigation (RI) at Former Camp Sibert Site 2A. The site falls under the Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS) program and requires compliance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). Site 2A was used for chemical agent decontamination training prior to 1945. Volatile organic compound groundwater contamination was identified during historical investigations that required further investigation. Hana has been tasked to further refine the Conceptual Site Model (CSM) with a focus on refining the boundaries of the groundwater contamination. Hana completed a dye trace study to evaluate if groundwater is discharging to surface water adjacent to the Site. Deep bedrock wells were installed to further delineate groundwater contamination at depth. The results of this investigation determined that contamination is at deeper depths than previously identified. Based on these findings, Hana proposed a path forward to address the data gaps for USACE to utilize during future investigations at the Site. Hana will also determine whether the site poses an unacceptable risk to human health and the environment.
