Supplemental Remedial Investigation at Camp Sibert

Hana completed a supplemental groundwater Remedial Investigation (RI). The site falls under the Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS) program and requires compliance with the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). Site 2A was used for chemical agent decontamination training prior to 1945. Volatile organic compound groundwater contamination was identified during historical investigations that required further investigation. Hana installed deep bedrock wells, conducted groundwater sampling, and soil gas sampling for the purpose of refining the Conceptual Site Model (CSM). A dye trace study was completed to further evaluate groundwater flow and possible discharge to surface water. The results of this investigation determined that contamination is at deeper depths than previously identified and the site groundwater poses an unacceptable risk to human health.
