MCAS Cherry Point Engineering and Munitions Services
Hana was retained by NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic to provide engineering and munitions services at a legacy bomb target located in eastern Carolina. The project site is a remote island that was used for decades for training with air-to-ground ordnance. The resulting impacts to the island include subsurface Material Potentially Presenting an Explosive Hazard (MPPEH) and sever erosion potential. Hana performs periodic checks for MPPEH, inspects and maintains navigation aids and warning signs, and manages Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC) in a remote off-island location. As an MMRP site, the work is coordinated with federal and state regulators as well as the Navy and Marine Corps. Material Documented as Safe (MDAS) is recycled off-island and residue generated during the operation is characterized and managed as Investigation Derived Waste (IDW).
