Pine Stands Forest Resource Assessment/Data Management at Fort Jackson

Hana was contracted to inventory and manage Fort Jackson’s forest resources in accordance with Army regulation 200-1, Environmental Protection and Enhancement. This assessment was used to develop natural resources management goals, specifically in conjunction with managing habitat for the federally and state endangered red-cockaded woodpecker population at Fort Jackson. The project involved completing a timber inventory of more than 8,000 trees over 3,800 acres on time and within budget using Prism and ArcGIS Online. In coordination with Southern Forestry Consultants, the Hana team used this data to develop a new ArcGIS database incorporating existing and new inventory data to support habitat management.  The Hana team also provided on-site training for implementation of Prism and ArcGIS database to Fort Jackson Forestry Department personnel.
