Upper James River Upland Dredged Material Disposal Placement Sites Assessment

Due to chronic shoaling within the navigation channel on the upper James River and its resulting negative impact to the deep draft navigation and the port commerce community, the USACE – Norfolk District is challenged with the critical demand for performing maintenance dredging of the channel. In support of the mission of maintaining this navigation channel, Hana performed condition assessments of multiple upland dredged material disposal facilities along the Upper James River to evaluate the potential usability of these facilities and recommend facility management activities to improve and/or prolong their useful life span.
